Knowledge is Power, and its as good as cash in your pocket with the Kill-a-Watt Meter, available at the Stoughton Public Library. Head to the Stoughton Public Library to borrow this Ryobi power usage meter, to learn how much power your plug in appliances are using. Use this knowledge you gain to reduce your energy consumption by unplugging certain appliances and save $ and energy. Ask for it at the Librarians Desk.
The Stoughton Energy & Sustainability Committee is a citizen’s advisory group to the Town’s Board of Selectmen focusing on issues pertaining to energy consumption, greenhouse gas monitoring, solid waste generation (Recycling and Waste Reduction), water consumption, and waste water generation. The members of the committee are Board Appointed, volunteers and residents of the Town of Stoughton. In addition to advising the Board of Selectmen, they are also committed to the Town of Stoughton residents by informing them how to reduce their own environmental impacts in their own homes and daily lives.
Water Conservation Program offered by the Stoughton DPWThe Town of Stoughton has partnered with the Neponset River Watershed Association to help facilitate a grant received from the Massachusetts DEP for a one year water conservation program. Learn more about how you can earn up to a $75 Rebate towards your water bill by replacing your washer and another $75 by replacing your toilet, by clicking HERE to go to the Stoughton DPW page.
| Recycling Tip:
Paper Recycling: All clean mixed papers that are acceptable in the curbside recycling program are items such as: Newspapers, Junk Mail, Unbounded notebook paper, computer paper, thin boxes such as cereal boxes, pasta boxes, soda and beer packaging. Greasy pizza boxes are not acceptable, however the clean lid side, can be. Tear it off and pop it in your recycle bin. Corrugated Cardboard is also acceptable, but it should be flattened and cut to fit inside your recycle bin. If it is not flattened it will be discarded by the rubbish personnel of the DPW. Alternatively, you can take any of your recyclables to the Transfer Station near BJs Wholesale on Saturdays between 8:00-5:00pm.
